M1 - The High Voltage Switch Room |
We have been busy this week down in Melbourne installing equipment into our high voltage switch room. We had to bring in the small crane you can see in the photo above to move all of our brand new heavy switch boards in the confined space of the HV switch room.
The HV switchboards are connected to the incoming high voltage supply cables from CitiPower. From there they switch the power to the transformers where 11kV is stepped down to 3 phase 415kV to be distributed to the DRUPS at the facility.
If you recognise these HV switch boards you have an incredible memory, but also it's probably because these are the same switchboards from Schneider that are installed at B1 in Brisbane! This area is only 20% finished so watch this space for more news from our high voltage switch rooms!
