M1 - Here Comes the Car Park

The outside area at M1 is really starting to take shape down in Melbourne. This week we're pouring the concrete for the car park on the eastern side of the property. It's incredible to see how quickly it can be poured and dried!

Before we could begin pouring the concrete, we needed to first excavate and flatten the ground. Once the ground was ready, we set up the frame work and the rebar ready for the pour.

As you can see, a large almost cranelike truck pumps the concrete so that it's poured from directly above the ground. This allows the pour to be more consistent across such a large surface area.

In this photo, you can see the final step of the process. Once all of the concrete is poured, we smooth the surface using large industrial "helicopters" like the one you can see below.
