Since we've been talking a lot about the first three data suites at C1 in Canberra, we thought you might like to see some of the safety features for these brand new premium colocation spaces. In the photo above is the new fire sub-panel on level 1, just outside the three data suites.

It monitors the multi-point aspirated smoke detection systems in the data suites, raises alarms to the main fire panel (which in turn calls the fire brigade), and if required it initiates the fire suppression gas discharge.

And inside the suites, we have installed pressure relief dampers (the large grille shown in the photo below).

This fire-rated damper is designed to allow air within the room to escape in the event that the fire suppression gas is discharged. The smaller grille is for the gas purge system – after the gas is discharged we need to be able to extract the gas from the room. A fan above this grille is manually activated to do this.
