M1 Launch
Friday, 06 July 2012 15:23

We've had a pretty big week. On Wednesday evening we launched M1, our flagship data centre in Melbourne to an overwhelming response. We were joined by over 300 industry leaders, media and distinguished guests to introduce the largest independent data centre in Melbourne.

We were lucky enough to be joined by Senator Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy who opened the facility. After cutting the ceremonial ribbon, Senator Conroy took a tour of M1 with NEXTDC Founder and Executive Deputy Chairman, Bevan Slattery and CEO Craig Scroggie.

On the tour, the gentlemen were joined by local member for Melbourne Ports Michael Danby, Rob Mitchell, the deputy chair of the Parliamentary NBN committee, as well as a whole host of media.

After just under 500 days of construction including 90 rain days we were over the moon to have such a warm reception to M1. Customer equipment will begin arriving next week so this was the final opportunity to have a celebration at the facility.

In these two photos you can see the who's who of the Australian IT industry arriving at M1. As people fill up the event space below, you might recognise it's actually our brand new offices!

Below the men of the hour cut the ceremonial ribbon.
