Chief Operating Officer

Simon Cooper is the Chief Operating Officer for NEXTDC. His primary responsibilities include design, construction and management of the next generation data centres that NEXTDC operates.

Mr Cooper is accountable for building and managing the services that are provided to customers as well as leading the company’s core teams of engineering, project management, facility and systems operations and service management. Mr Cooper is highly experienced in instigating and managing strategic solutions and brings a strong technical background to the company.

Before moving to Brisbane to join NEXTDC in October 2011 Mr Cooper was based in Singapore, and was a Senior Vice President at Tata Communications, where he spent six years with the company. In this role, Mr Cooper was responsible for driving all aspects of strategic network development in direct support of the company’s global portfolio. Mr Cooper was responsible for significantly expanding the company’s global network footprint, as it went through the transformation from an India centric operator into a global telecommunications player.

Originally from the UK, Mr Cooper has extensive international experience in the IT and telecoms industries having previously worked for Level 3 Communications and Cable & Wireless.

Mr Cooper attended the University of Nottingham in the UK and has an Honours Degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering.
