NEXTDC today announced that NEXTDC’s M1 Melbourne data centre is the newest data centre hosting location for Amazon Web Services (AWS) Direct Connect, providing low-latency, secure access directly to the AWS cloud.
M1 Melbourne is the third AWS Direct Connect point of presence in Australia and the first outside Sydney, delivering important geo-redundancy for service durability.
AWS’s Melbourne based customers can now access AWS Direct Connect through a cross connect service at M1, while customers in other locations can leverage inter-capital services and secure elastic connections via the AXONVX™ network to connect to AWS Direct Connect at M1 or one of the Sydney locations.
By connecting directly to AWS at M1, NEXTDC customers can benefit from full integration between their cloud services and internal applications, and build a seamless hybrid cloud deployment, where applications and workloads can be moved as needed between private, public and on-premise platforms.
AWS Direct Connect provides an alternative to using the public internet to access AWS cloud services by establishing private, low latency network connections to increase the performance, reliability and security of their AWS applications and workloads.
