As one of Australia’s leading independent cloud service providers, Cloud Plus delivers specialist technology services and cloud infrastructure in conjunction with 67 Australian partners, including Thomas Duryea Consulting, Kiandra IT, Systima, Surety IT and Rivercity Solutions.
CEO Jules Rumsey reveals the factors that give their clients the confidence to take that journey to the cloud with Cloud Plus, and the critical role played by their data centre services with NEXTDC.
NEXTDC has facilitated our rapid growth by providing Cloud Plus with world-class facilities in which to host our network, security and hosting infrastructure in the major capital cities around Australia.
Cloud Plus declared a maiden profit in FY14 by boosting revenues by a massive 147 percent – despite considerable re-investment in infrastructure and senior staff. Then in FY15 it achieved a further 114 percent growth. And according to CEO Jules Rumsey, the firm is on track to achieve north of 100 percent top-line growth in the current fiscal year.
Cloud Plus provides their partners and end clients with a comprehensive, industry-leading solution that has guaranteed performance and availability, rock solid security, excellent data protection options and a single point of contact for support. IT Managers and CIOs seek this level of assurance to help them transition to a hosted cloud computing model.
The design and delivery of such a comprehensive solution is complex, particularly with enterprise and government clients. It may include hosted cloud computing and colocation, which requires extensive knowledge of their current and future IT operations and infrastructure requirements, as well as ongoing evaluation and tuning to deliver the ideal hybrid deployment.
Mr Rumsey describes how trust is a central factor in the move to colocated cloud: many SMEs, corporations and government agencies making the transition from on-premise hosting within their own facilities to hosted cloud computing have major concerns about performance, availability, security and data loss.
Unlike some major public cloud providers, Cloud Plus is able to address these concerns head on by operating its own national Multi-Protocol Label Switching network coupled with an award-winning, enterprise-grade, managed firewall service, as well as by hosting solely on VMware, with backup and replication services powered by Veeam.
Cloud Plus has established points of presence in NEXTDC’s Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth data centres. Starting in 2012 with two racks in M1, their footprint has grown to over 20 racks spread across the four facilities. This national coverage provides Cloud Plus with geo-diversity, backup and disaster recovery options to suit the most demanding clients.
