NEXTDC KL1 wins Malaysia sustainability leadership award

NEXTDC’s KL1 Kuala Lumpur has been named the winner of the Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance, Commercial – New Building category at the malaysiaGBC Leadership in Sustainability Awards 2026.

The award recognises projects advancing climate action, resilience and sustainable development across Malaysia’s built environment. KL1 was recognised for an approach that brings energy efficiency, water resilience and operational reliability together from the design stage. Arup served as sustainability consultant for the project.

Sustainable infrastructure for Malaysia’s digital growth

Located in Petaling Jaya, KL1 has been designed to support the growth of AI, cloud and critical digital services while maintaining a strong focus on sustainable infrastructure.

Stage 1 has achieved GBI Platinum Provisional certification, the highest rating under Malaysia’s Green Building Index, together with Provisional BCA Green Mark Award Platinum recognition.

These certifications reinforce the approach taken at KL1, where sustainability has been considered alongside resilience and operational performance from the outset.
