Leading the way in sustainable data centre solutions.
NEXTDC is committed to building digital infrastructure that is reliable, secure and increasingly energy efficient, while supporting the transition to a lower-carbon future.
Our mission is to help customers harness the power of the digital age to achieve better business outcomes, while operating our business in a responsible, efficient and sustainable way.
As part of this commitment, NEXTDC has set a target to achieve net zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 across NEXTDC’s reporting boundary. We are focused on improving the energy efficiency of our data centres, increasing the role of renewable energy and maintaining world-class operational performance as our business continues to grow.
We recognise that achieving meaningful emissions reductions requires sustained action over time. Our approach will continue to evolve as we develop our transition pathway, assess opportunities to reduce emissions and improve resource efficiency, and respond to developments in technology, energy markets and climate policy.

We build and operate a footprint of the most energy efficient data centres in the country, which serves as a reminder that organisations can be engineered to both support the environment and improve business efficiencies.
Optimising efficiencies and reducing our carbon footprint starts with our commitment to reducing our own carbon emissions which we achieve through continuous business improvement.
Sustainability is embedded in our corporate DNA, with our in-house team of Engineers dedicated to building and continuously looking for ways to fine tune our fleet and consistently maintain the most operationally sustainable data centres in the market.
At NEXTDC, we believe in building a sustainable future for our planet, and we are proud to be 100% carbon neutral. As certified members of the Australian Government's Climate Active program, we are committed to offering carbon-neutral solutions to our customers, supporting their business needs in the most ethical and sustainable way possible.
We're dedicated to setting new benchmarks in data centre sustainability excellence, through meticulous measurement and management of our PUE rates. Our data centres are engineered and designed to harness renewable energy, and we're proud to say that our solar array at M1 Melbourne has already offset close to 700 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions every year – the equivalent to taking 200 cars off the road.
Our commitment to sustainability innovation has been recognised through our latest offering, NEXTneutral. This service enables our customers to offset all the carbon emissions generated by their IT equipment and environments located in our data centres nationally. It's initiatives like these that have contributed to our position as #10 in the Australian Financial Review’s 2021 Most Innovative Companies awards (Technology category).
Our eWaste management and recycling program for end-of-life hardware is active at every facility and allows our customers to dispose of their retired equipment for free, with the peace of mind that we will recycle everything that can be, and safely dispose of what cannot.
