PTC26 Reflections: Collaboration, Connectivity and the Future of Digital Infrastructure

This year’s Pacific Telecommunications Council conference in Honolulu brought together global leaders focused on the evolving technological landscape across the Pacific. At the heart of PTC26 were three interconnected themes: the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, the strategic importance of subsea connectivity, and the critical role of digital infrastructure in enabling sustainable growth.
Workshops and discussions spanned from capacity planning to innovative partnership models, reinforcing how these themes are driving industry priorities. The scale of AI deployment continues to grow, and with that growth comes a renewed emphasis on robust, resilient connectivity. Subsea networks are no longer peripheral. They are central to unlocking new opportunities for regional integration, data flow and economic development.
One of the most striking aspects of the event was the spirit of collaboration. Rather than competing narratives, there was a focus on shared insight and joint problem-solving. Operators, cloud providers, infrastructure builders and regional stakeholders explored ways to align capabilities with emerging demand patterns. Trusted relationships and cross-sector partnerships emerged as essential drivers for future progress.
PTC26 reminded us that while technology evolves swiftly, the best outcomes come from combining innovation with cooperation. As we look ahead, these collective learnings will shape how we build and connect the digital future across the Pacific.
