BRISBANE, Australia – 24 November 2021. NEXTDC Limited (ASX: NXT), Australia’s leading data centre services provider, and EngineRoom, an Australian data consultancy and specialist high-performance computing (HPC) service provider, have announced a new partnership to bring world-leading HYDRA liquid immersion cooling solutions to the local market.
This new revolutionary technology significantly increases the output and energy efficiency of data-intensive compute, when compared to traditional air-cooling used in privately owned, and most colocation data centre environments. The results of HYDRA’s liquid immersion technology is already driving significant improvements in server performance, lowering the cost base for end users, as well as a reduction in carbon emissions.

The partnership is already exploring different ways to reuse the excess heat, a process that is incredibly difficult to do with air cooling. Some of the innovative solutions the partnership are exploring include turning it into energy and using it to provide office space heating, drinkable hot water or other ancillary power.
The HYDRA technology has been housed in a custom-built space in NEXTDC’s S2 Sydney data centre.
